How often do you get the chance to live in a palace? This was the palace where Charles the Bold and his daughter Mary of Burgundy lived (and indeed where she passed). The hotel is beautiful and is nicely located in Bruges, close to everything but not in the middle of it all. That is to say, you get the best of both worlds. Our room had a city view with big windows, allowing you to see the entire Bruges skyline, listen to the bells, and see one of the golden statues of the Duke’s Palace that adorn the roofline. The bathroom was spacious and had a separate bathtub and shower cabin. There was a window from the bathroom into the main room, which was nice. Breakfast had many options, including a station where you could carve your own Belgium chocolate (dark, milk, and white) with a two-handled knife! There were lots of fresh fruit options, waffles, and even sparkling wine. Many standard breakfast foods were available in the buffet, but omelets and lactose-free coffee options are available when you ask. The back room of the dining area is a little dark and not as nice as the front part, which has a wall of windows which allows you to see the palace while you eat. A coffeemaker is in the room, and we asked for a tea kettle and bottle opener from the front desk. There is a nice souvenir store just around the corner that stays open later than the other stores and sells a good variety of Belgium beers (and other things). We enjoyed staying in the Palace and it added to the experience of being in historic Bruges.

Wow! I believe it must be a converted (modernised) castle. A magnificent building, exquisitely furnished and appointed, overflowing with real character. In contrast with attitudes of some Belgians in years past, every single person we met in this hotel was outstanding in every way. Friendly, Helpful. Keen to give immaculate service. I have never seen better in the finest 5 Star hotels. All aspects of our stay were genuinely 5-Star. Robes and slippers in the room, great towels of all sizes changed daily, a turn down service each evening with Belgian chocolates left on the bedside. Water bottles, tea and coffee replenished every day. A beautiful atmosphere. Pure CLASS! The whole experience was reminiscent of the finest standards of hotels in years gone by, Absolute delight and completely faultless. THIS is how to manage a hotel. As for location, it is right in the middle of the beautiful old town of Brugges, Left the car untouched in the hotel garage and walked for days. Nothing is too far away. The room was gorgeous, spacious and very comfortable, The breakfast offered everything imaginable.

Excellent location, all the best sites are within walking distance. The garden terrace is beautiful and quiet, with attentive staff who will bring drinks and snacks. The breakfast rooms are a delight, with staff to supply tea and coffee as you help yourself to the varied buffet (including bubbly!), including fruit, cheeses and yoghurt. Sadly, the menu doesn't stretch to mushrooms (as a vegetarian, I have no need of bacon or sausages). The lounges are comfortable and quiet, the hotel staff are all friendly and helpful.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful historic building that is nicely decorated and has great common drawing rooms to sit in and nice reception area. The christmas trees and decorations were especially outstanding and the christmas feature in the garden looked lovely. Our room was very nice with huge bed and nice shower. Really nice busy hotel bar that was well managed - went there 3 times and though it looked full they always found us a table and service was pretty quick. Overall I thought it lived up to its 5 star status.

This is a beautiful hotel with warm, welcoming staff. We stayed for our honeymoon and the hotel certainly made us feel special. The breakfast is amazing, the rooms are gorgeous and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We stayed for 3 nights originally but loved it so much we opted to stay for an additional 2 nights. Perfectly located in the centre of Bruges too.
